Former pitcher Jamie Moyer is set to rejoin the Philadelphia Phillies, but this time he'll be in the broadcast booth. Moyer and Matt Stairs are stepping in to replace longtime announcer Chris Wheeler and former player Gary Matthews.
"There's a rich history in Philadelphia with broadcasting," Moyer told WHYY. "I don't think I'm going to be the guy who fills the shoes of those before me, but I'm going to be the guy who gives you my best effort and likes to have a lot of fun."The Montgomery County native was part of the 2008 World Series championship Phillies team and boasts a total 269 wins in his 26-year career.
Moyer recently spoke to WHYY's Jennifer Lynn about his new job, spring training and whether a woman will ever take the helm of the Phils broadcasting booth.
He even explained what a palm ball and other less-known pitches are.
