A magical world set to take over Germantown Avenue for annual Harry Potter festival
For two days this weekend, be prepared to immerse yourself and your family in the imaginary world of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter.
The Harry Potter Festival is back in Chestnut Hill on Oct. 18 and 19.
Neighborhood businesses, food establishments and shops along Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill are all part of the familiar backdrop of Rowling's scenes. Chestnut Hill College and the Woodmere Museum also join in on the fun.
Pre-register for a weekend of literary exploration at Chestnut Hill College's Harry Potter's Academic Conference. Learn more about about the sport Quidditch at the 4th Annual Philadelphia Brotherly Love Cup and pick up some Potter-inspired souveniers on the way.
Get in touch with your inner wizard by hunting for the Horcrux, casting spells, finding your way through Dumbledore's mazes at Woodmere and learning the art of dark arts defense.
It all starts on Friday, Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Top of the Hill Fountain Plaza. Meet characters and enjoy performances at the Northwestern Stables, followed by a pub crawl at 7 p.m.
The Firebolt 5K Run at 8 a.m. on Saturday will benefit J.S. Jenks Elementary School in Chestnut Hill. The festival continues through the day on Saturday. Closing ceremonies will take place at 4:30 p.m. at Norwood Fontbonne Academy.
