The Interactive conference of South by Southwest often gets overshadowed by its sweatier counterpart, Music.

But the annual gathering in Austin, Texas, is still a major destination for innovative thinkers.

That's who the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau is looking to court Saturday.

And it's going old school to catch their attention.

"We decided to fly a plane because it was actually affordable," said Danielle Cohn, PHLCVB's VP of marketing. "And it was a great way for us to do some guerrilla marketing in the skies over South by Southwest."

The plane flies between 1 and 3 p.m. 10 a.m and 1 p.m. on Saturday, pulling behind it a banner emblazoned with discoverphl.com/sxsw. The URL redirects to the bureau's Innovation & Education page, which showcases why Philadelphia is a great place for geeks.

"We chose a plane because we wanted to make a big impression," said Cohn.

A couple dozen members of the Philly tech scene will be in Austin this weekend. Cohn has already outfitted them with plenty of PHL swag.
