Sen. Bob Casey is calling the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Environmental Protection to action after a New York Times article reported that hydraulic fracturing can lead to radioactive materials in Pennsylvania's waterways.

“Alarming information has been raised that must be fully investigated," Casey said in a statement today. "I am calling on the DEP and the EPA to increase inspections of Pennsylvania drinking water resources for radioactive material and to account for why sufficient inspections haven’t taken place.”

The article states more than 65 drinking water intake sites haven't been tested since 2008, others since as far back as 2005.
