Philly named best city for biking
A recent study has named Philadelphia the best city for biking with a population over one million people, and ninth most bikeable city in the United States.
The findings were determined by the website Walkscore.com, in collaboration with researchers at Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia.
Nationwide rankings are based on four factors; bike lanes, hills, destinations and road connectivity, and bike commuting mode share.
According to the 2011 Census Bureau's American Communities Survey, more than two percent of Philadelphians bike to work; an entire percent higher than the runner-up, Chicago.
By the end of 2013, the city will boast a more than 50-mile network of walking and biking trails.
