The long-time owner of Atlantic City's Steel Pier, George Hamid, Jr. has died at the age of 94.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, Hamid died at Shore Medical Center around 10 a.m. Saturday.

Though a few different parties owned Steel Pier over the years, it was during Hamid's tenure that the Atlantic City destination was in its heyday. Hamid's son, Hamid III said bringing the Beatles to Boardwalk Hall in 1964 was one of his father's "proudest accomplishments."
