Plans are moving forward to open a new plant for ILC Dover in Sussex County later this year.

The Council on Development Finance approved two grant requests totaling approximately $550,000 for the creation of 115 new full-time jobs at a newly constructed factory for Grayling Industries, a subsidiary of ILC Dover.

Governor Jack Markell made the announcement that the company was expanding in Delaware during his State of the State address earlier this month.

Grayling Industries currently manufactures protective packaging for food and chemicals and asbestos removal products in Juarez, Mexico. ILC Dover, which makes spacesuits for NASA and other protection equipment for the military and homeland security, purchased Grayling last year.

ILC Dover had requested a Strategic Fund Performance Grant of $364,500 and a Strategic Fund Capital Expenditures Grant in the amount of $187,860.

Approximately 35-40 jobs will open in April when the first line of products will move to the Delaware facility. The company plans to fill all 115 jobs by the end of the year.
