Delaware unemployment up again
Delaware's unemployment has been going in the wrong direction over the past few months.
The latest numbers from the Delaware Department of Labor show the state's unemployment rate for March was 7.3 percent. That's a tenth of a percent higher than the 7.2 percent rate in February. The number of unemployed Delawareans in March was 32,300.
The unemployment rate has been trickling up since November 2012, when the rate was at 6.7 percent. The rate was up to 7.1 percent in December.
Even though the rate is increasing, the total number of Delawareans in the work force is also increasing. While that may seem to be conflicting information, Labor Department officials say it's likely due to the fact that unemployed workers who had difficulty finding jobs last year and dropped out of the job hunt, have now rejoined the job search because of the improving economy.
