Honoring Delaware's veterans [video]
Hundreds gathered with state and military leaders to commemorate Veterans Day with as part of the annual ceremony near the Delaware Memorial Bridge.
This year's ceremony was a little more poignant for the Delaware National Guard which has hundred members serving overseas, mainly in Afghanistan, this year.
Maj. Gen. Frank Vavala who serves as Adjutant General of the Delaware National Guard reminded the crowd of several hundred how rare members of the military are. "I ask you to remember that there is only seven tenths of one percent that serve in our population that serve in our United State's military—the few protecting the many."
Delaware Governor Jack Markell highlighted the state's efforts to reach out to help veterans find employment once they return from service. "It's important that we look back to thank those that have served, to let them know how much we appreciate them."
