Eccentric, boundary-crossing film director in hilarious and uncensored one-man show. John Waters' one-man show is a "vaudeville" act that celebrates the film career and obsessional tastes of the man William Burroughs once called "The Pope of Trash." Giving bad taste a good name for over 40 years, Waters' is known to "filth followers" everywhere for such over-the-top classics as Hairspray, Pink Flamingos, and Cry Baby. Becky's New Car is a thoroughly original comedy with serious overtones, a devious and also delightful romp down the road not taken. Becky Foster is caught in middle age, with no prospects of change on the horizon. Then one night a socially inept millionaire stumbles into her job and Becky is offered nothing short of a new life and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn't dare! Kent County Theatre Guild.
A shadowy corner. An isolated diner. Two brutal thugs. So begins the hard-hitting story by Ernest Hemingway. It also starts the classic film noir adaptation, but that’s just the beginning. In the film, the two hit men effortlessly dispatch their victim Swede and leave town. But who wanted Swede dead? Was it the sultry Kitty Collins? The gangland boss? Flashbacks reveal Swede’s tortured life and explain his inevitable “execution.” Nominated for four Academy Awards, this mystery classic will keep you guessing to the finish. Rehoboth Beach Public Library, February 13th, 4 P.M.
