Striving for a computer friendlier Philadelphia
A Philadelphia city councilman is trying to legislate the city into becoming more computer friendly.
Councilman Bill Green's bill is designed to force the city into making sure its Internet sites are good for use with all types of browsers.
Green says he has been shown by businessmen that doing business with the city is frustrating if you don't have the right Internet browser.
"A lot of people have complained to the administration about this for months and have gotten no response, so I have put in a bill to mandate it," he said Thursday. "I'm sure that they would agree with the premise of the bill; I just want to get it done expeditiously and I think this is the best course for that."
The bill would mandate universal compliance within 180 days.
Green is hopeful the city will just make all browsers work without the legislation.
