Pennsylvania Farm Show offers something for every taste

The 97th annual Pennsylvania Farm Show opens to the public Saturday, featuring attractions new and old, and plenty of good eats.

State Agriculture Secretary George Greig says there will be new menu items -- such as bacon on a stick and apple cider slushies -- as well as classic fare.

"We have the old standards ... I like the fried cheese and the milk shakes and the roast beef sandwiches with the horseradish," he said. "I'm a big horseradish person, so I like that."

Greig says his agency is expecting about 400,000 people to attend the Farm Show, in keeping with last year's attendance.

The theme of this year's expo is "Made in PA," an effort to bring consumers' attention to the local benefits of buying home-grown products.

The Farm Show is free and open through Jan. 12.
