Philadelphia's City Solicitor said Philadelphia will fight back if it loses funds over its sanctuary city status.

City Solicitor Sozi Tulante said officials are preparing to challenge any attempt to take away state and federal funds because Philadelphia is a sanctuary city.

"We've been very much out there with the bar association, ACLU," Tulante said, "Some folks who are actually more familiar with them suing us than working together."

Philadelphia is one of 34 counties in Pennsylvania that refuses to release people to federal immigration officials without a warrant --  and Tulante said state legislators should think about that when considering cutting off money.

"So that if people think they are voting to try and to defund Philadelphia they are also voting to defund their counties, their municipalities and also subject them to tort liability."

Tulante said the goal is to make people understand the city isn't fight against immigration officials as long as they have a warrant.
