The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the governing body for internet naming conventions, is in the process of weighing applications for new generic top level domains.

What's a generic top level domain? It's more commonly known as the text to the right of the dot in a URL, like .com, .net, and .org.

Now, there could be a whole host of new GTLDs like .shop, .search, or .book.

NewsWorks Tonight Host Dave Heller spoke with Jason Schaeffer, an intellectual property attorney with ESQwire.com, about the change to come.
