Keep your eye on the Delaware River and Bay tides over the next few days, as they'll be getting the royal treatment.

A king tide, which happens about twice a year when the Earth, moon and sun align, is a foot or more higher than a normal tide.

A news release from the Delaware Estuary says the king tide can be especially noticeable in the Delaware Bay, which narrows like a funnel as the tide moves upstream. Today, Thursday and Friday will be your best chance at seeing the king tide.

The Estuary has a fun little project for anyone who likes wearing paper hats: print out a king tide crown, snap your photo with the tide and upload it to the Estuary's Facebook page.
