More details on Pa. caregiver support program
February 22, 2012
By NewsWorks StaffLast month WHYY's Carolyn Beeler wrote about a Pennsylvania law, taking effect in March, that will allow caregivers to be reimbursed by the state for expenses associated with their service.
NewsWorks reader Diane asked:
"What is the maximum monthly income for one person and for two to qualify for the Pa. caregiver support program? I read HB 210 & SB 639. Must be 60 or older. Is than correct?
"The family I am trying to help are both over 85. [...] Any info you can furnish me would be appreciated. Next step is the area of bureau of aging."
Beeler wrote back:
"Hi, Diane. You were right — the Pennsylvania Department of Aging directs people interested in the Pa. caregiver support program to contact their county area agency on aging."
She also provided a link to some more information about the program.
