DelDOT: DART service resumes, Route 1 to reopen Sunday
Crews from DelDOT have been working tirelessly to get Delaware's roads and transportation networks back online. High water, fallen trees and utility lines had closed nearly a dozen roads state-wide in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Now that nearly all of their inspection have been completed, DelDOT officials are reporting that most of Delaware's transportation systems are back in working order.
- DART Transit service and ParaTransit are back to normal operating scheduled.
- DMV and toll operations have resumed.
- Route 1 at the Indian River Inlet will reopen on Sunday morning, though work will continue on the area.
The northern side of Route 1 sustained major flooding earlier this week. In order to reopen the road, crews removed approximately 40,000 tons or 1.4 million 50 lb. bags of sand since Tuesday.
Officials also report that most of Delaware's traffic signals are now operational.
