College applicants struggling to fund their education because of Superstorm Sandy may qualify for a new scholarship.
Harcum College in Bryn Mawr is offering two years of free room and board to qualifying students.
President Jon DeTemple says it's an add-on to any other scholarships or financial aid the student may get.
"The opportunity that they may be missing because they were pretty much wiped out. This would give them a chance," he said. "You know, we don't know how many people will participate but we thought we'd extend a hand to those in need."
The scholarship is offered only to applicants who live in specific counties that were hit hard by Sandy.
The include the Delaware counties of Kent, New Castle and Sussex; the New Jersey counties of Atlantic, Cape May, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Union; and the New York counties of Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Queens, Richmond and Suffolk.
