Group therapy is a popular option for many people seeking help, since it is usually cheaper than one-on-one therapy.
The American Psychological Association has published a journal on group therapy titled "Group Dynamics: Theory, Research, and Practice" and some of the research suggests group therapy is possibly more effective than one-on-one forms of therapy.
Group therapy started in the first half of the 20th century, one of the early influential proponents was Irvin Yalom, who wrote an influential text, "The Theory and Practice of Group Psychotherapy."
