Gloucester Township cops shot, gunman dead after police station struggle

Gloucester Township Deputy Chief of Police David Harkins has confirmed three officers were shot inside the station early Friday morning. Around 5:30 a.m., a scuffle ensued with a man being processed for domestic violence charges.
"We had a suspect under arrest for a domestic violence related incident," Harkins said. "At some point, a violent struggle occurred while the suspect was being processed. During of the course of that the suspect obtained a firearm and fired on three of our officers."
One officer was shot in the abdomen just below his bulletproof vest when the man got hold of an officer's gun. Two other officers were grazed. The suspect was then shot to death.
Harkins said the most seriously injured officer was taken to Cooper University Hospital for surgery.
