Deadline extended for Sandy-related FEMA relief applications
The deadline for New Jersey residents to apply for Sandy-related FEMA relief has been extended.
According to the Press of Atlantic City, residents affected by Hurricane Sandy now have until May 1 to apply for assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Registering with FEMA is required in order for homeowners to receive many rebuilding grants.
"It is vitally important for people to know that the FEMA individual assistance registration process is essential to receiving any type of federal disaster assistance — including grant assistance for homeowners and renters as outlined in our (Community Development Block Grant) disaster relief action plan," said Gov. Chris Christie in a news release.
