Chester County gas leak fixed, investigation continues
A suburban Philadelphia gas terminal has been repaired and is open again after crews worked to clean up about 5,300 gallons of gasoline following a leak over the weekend.
The Daily Local News reports that the terminal in East Whiteland Township reopened Monday morning. Officials say they are conducting tests on the surrounding area and those tests will continue throughout the week. The Department of Environmental Protection says it's been responding to the spill for the past three days and is observing the cleanup.
The spill started around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Officials say it came after an equipment failure, which has since been repaired.
Chester County officials say that after an investigation takes place the county will look into any problems that may have caused the spill.
