Traffic court judge in Philadelphia arrested
A Philadelphia traffic court judge has been arrested, after being named in a fraud indictment. The document was unsealed today -- charging the judge and and two others.
The indictment charges Philadelphia Traffic Court Judge Robert Mulgrew in a scheme to defraud the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
Mulgrew and a Pennsylvania State Representative administrative aide are accused of a scheme to fraudulently receive and misuse Pennsylvania state grant funds awarded to non-profit groups. Between 1996 and 2008, the Department of Community and Economic Development awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to two community groups they were connected with.
Mulgrew and two others -- including his wife -- are also charged with filing false tax returns.
