Mayor Nutter says Made in America concert 'great success for the city'
As crews begin to tear down the stages and clean up the Ben Franklin Parkway from the weekend's Made in America festival, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter spoke about the event on My Fox Philly Monday morning.
Nutter called the event a "great success for the city" and said Made in America musicians and artist were blown away by Philadelphia and the beauty of the Parkway.
Attendance for the two-day festival was lower than the 50,000 concert-goers expected each day. Saturday attracted the largest numbers with 41,000 attendees while Sunday drew 39,000 people.
As for a Made in America festival in 2013, Nutter said it's too early to predict, but he would like to see the concert return to Philadelphia next year.
"We want to evaluate what has happened over the two days and certainly the the Made in America folks, and Jay-Z and his team want to do the same thing, but we expect to be talking pretty soon, and I'd certainly like to have them back," said Mayor Nutter to My Fox Philly.
