Students celebrate 18th annual Arbor Day with sponge relay races, crafts and music in East Falls
Nearly 200 students from Thomas Mifflin, William Penn Charter and Wissahickon Charter schools gathered at Inn Yard Park on Friday afternoon for the 18th annual Arbor Day celebration.
The kids performed environment-related songs, presented poems, created their own bird feeders, particpated in relay races and watched as a new tree was planted at the East Falls park.
Each year, the program aims to teach kids about the role and importance of trees in our environment.
The event, hosted by the East Falls Tree Tenders and sponsored by Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, was supported by F.X. Duffy & Co, East River Bank, National Penn Bank and the Philadelphia Water Department.
