June 1 marks the 100th anniversary of Justice Louis Brandeis’ confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court. Cited as one of the court's most influential justices, his life and legacy are the focus of a new book, "Louis D. Brandeis: American Prophet" by National Constitution Center president and CEO Jeffrey Rosen.
Wednesday evening, the center will host a conversation about the book. Joining Rosen to discuss Brandeis’ enduring relevance are leading scholars Philippa Strum of the Wilson Center and Melvin Urofsky of Virginia Commonwealth University. A book sale and signing with Rosen will follow the discussion.
Rosen and NewsWorks Tonight host Dave Heller discussed Louis Brandeis’ legacy and considered “WWBD” — what would Brandeis do? — if faced with recent decisions such as Citizens United.
