New Jersey funeral home directors are seeing a new type of trend from their clients, apparently more people now prefer to be cremated as opposed to being buried.

According to a story from The Star-Ledger, data from the Department of Health and Senior Services shows as of 2009 two out of five people who died in New Jersey chose to be cremated over being buried.

Two decades ago, New Jersey residents preferred burials over cremations five to one, according to the report.

Cremations can cost significantly less than burials, one reason many of the state's morticians are adjusting the way they do business, including adding extra services that complement cremations.
