Salem County superintendent defers half his salary to school district

The superintendent of two Salem County, N.J., school districts will defer half his salary to help alleviate money problems. Loren Thomas, according to the South Jersey Times, asked the board of education for the Salem County Vocational Technical School District and the Salem County Special Services School District to withhold the part of his salary that the SSSD pays.

The board will withhold about $41,500 from Thomas' salary until more tuition has been collected in June.
