Officials expect all state government computers in New Jersey will be up and running Friday.

A power failure at the state's primary data center Thursday took down most state agency computers and websites.

Power was restored by Thursday afternoon, but technicians worked through the night to bring agency websites, email systems and computers back online.

Treasury Department Spokesman William Quinn says technicians will monitor the systems and be ready to act if there are any residual problems Friday.

Quinn says the outage happened around 2 p.m. Thursday and affected many sites and computer systems used by the public, such as the nj.gov home page and the website for unemployment benefits.

Motor vehicle offices statewide had to close after their computer system crashed.
