The Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania brought a taste of New Orleans to the Crystal Tea Room on Feb. 8, for the sixth annual Mardi Gras Gala. The evening honored 2013 Mardi Gras King Jim Connolly, president and CEO of Aeras, a non-profit biotech organization dedicated to advancing the development of new vaccines for tuberculosis and other neglected diseases.

Also honored were neurologist Dr. Joyce Liporace of Riddle Hospital, who was recognized as the medical professional of the year, and Madge Keehn of Erdenheim, who was named volunteer of the year.

Nearly 400 guests got into the spirit of Mardi Gras wearing beads and masks for the black-tie dinner, which raised more than $105,000 to support the Epilepsy Foundation’s advocacy and outreach services.
