Aside from the stress and pain of donating, say, a kidney, organ donors also have the small matter of medical bills to deal with.

But legislation making its way through the New Jersey Senate could ease the financial burden living donors face when they offer up a piece of themselves. Washington Township Sen. Fred Madden, D-4, is proposing a $10,000 tax deduction for N.J. organ donors. The money would cover transportation, lodging, copay and medical fees, according to the Gloucester County Times.

The next approval must come from the Senate Budget Committee.
