Improvements are on their way to Atlantic City by way of state approval of $9.9 million in funding.

The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority has outlined improvement projects for the city's state-run tourism district, with funding going toward tourist attractions and quality-of-life upgrades. Like, for instance, the 990 lock-top trashcans for the Boardwalk that will keep animals and rainwater out. And the long-term revitalization of Steel Pier. A small chunk — $50,000 — will go toward figuring out how and where to develop areas off the Boardwalk.

The funding was approved at yesterday's CRDA board meeting.
