Johnson & Johnson CEO Bill Weldon has announced his retirement from the health care company that's been issuing recalls on dozens of products.

Weldon, who took over as CEO in 2002, will remain chairman of the board, the Inquirer reports. He led the company through the shutdown of the company's McNeil Division in Fort Washington, Pa., and through the plant's $100 million renovation.
